| NEWS Note: If you like this site, please go to the 'Appendix' section to find out how you can give feedback. You will also find a Link selection and the rules of this contest there. 1st april 2000 a.d. - khaine No, this is no april joke - Bigby's Bitch Slap is this Month's grand winner. It received by far the most votes; check out the exact results here. As always, there's also a log file for you to check out. Other than this, I have updates the archive again as those of you with keen eyes might have noted (since there's a v2.01 at the bottom instead of a 2.00:-). Actually, I removed in a bug that resulted in the level 1 spells being displayed at level 10... some of you might guess how that could happen. I have also modified a few other scripts, although you won't see alot of these changes. Then, I would like to know from you guys wether to switch to a rating system or stay with the voting system. I personally would prefer the rating system; you would have a dropdown combobox at the bottom of each spell where you could assign it a rating in between one and ten right after you read it. The advantage would be that you don't have to read all spells and then possibly re-read some to decide on a spell or item or whatever. 16th march 2000 a.d. - khaine About time for another update - those who follow the mailing lst already know most of this, but I'll recount it anyway. The SIMHA portal site has gone online. Any comments will be welcome since I think of the current portal as a prototype with much space for changes. I have also joined up the RPGA Banner eXchange. Maybe that will bring more slaves to my realm, mwuhahah - oops, again said too much, I have to be more careful on th 'net. 1st march 2000 a.d. - khaine And here we go, the second month is over and we have a second winner: Dancing Wand. You can now vote on the spells that were submitted during febuary. All the candidates this month are now in the archive, and the entries section is longing for your newest creations. If you want to see the exact results, follow this link. You can also have a look into the log file of this month. I am a little bit disappointed by the amount of votes, though. They have gone down from 53 to to 40. Maybe it was the short Month? Anyway, please rattle the bones a bit so that more people come to my site and cast their votes... and don't forget to do so yourself! 23rd febuary 2000 a.d. - khaine Only one week to go in Febuary and only 34 votes cast so far? Hey people where are you? Too much to read :-)? Come on, reaching 50 votes is an easy thing to do. I am, however, quite satisfied with the submissions. Right now, there are twelve - maybe one or two wizards can submit a few additional spells, and we'll get more that last month's 13 submissions. Something different: The Item of the Month site is almost finished. You can - and should - go there and submit a few nice and interesting magical items. Note that I have created a "better" archive script for IOTM. I am especially proud of that.. but any comments are welcome. I think I will, should I be in the mood, make a graphics update to IOTM, to get rid of the "regular borders" Hardtrack didn't like that much - it's just that no good alternative concept has come to mind yet. 1st febuary 2000 a.d. - khaine Wohoo! The first Spell of the Month contest ever has a winner: Mystic Link. Voting is now open on the spells that were submitted during january. All the candidates this month are now in the archive, and the entries section is longing for your newest creations. If you want to see the exact results, follow this link. You can also have a look into the log file of this month. Last but not least, note that I have uploaded a few little graphics to the appendix section. 12th january 2000 a.d. - khaine Short Update: The mailing list is here. You can subscribe to it by going to the 'Appendix' section. This list is an open discussion list, so you may also send messages to it, either in reply to other mails or in own initiative. As stated before, I will give a regular update through that list how many spells are in which section, and will also post each month's results there. 11th january 2000 a.d. - khaine Finally, everything seems to be up and working. You are welcome to the fully functional Spell of the Month Site. A few minor thing remain to be done, though. I want to make a variety of 'medals' and stuf like that, of varying sizes, for the winners of the contest. I have also not yet created the SOTM mailing list. This will happen in a few weeks - right now, I don't have the time to do that. However, if anyone wants to make a 'medal', her is more than welcome. Also note that I have added a new feature to the submit section, allowing you to submit a spell directly into the archive if you want to. 09th january 2000 a.d. - khaine Good news: My administration script, the submissions script, the archive script and the scripts that display entries and candidates are finished. What remains is the voting script, which I already have started, and a few smaller graphics. All in all, I think that I have about 85% of the work done. You can do anything except voting, currently. I am not yet sure when I will make the mailing list. 04th january 2000 a.d. - khaine Welcome to the new millenium! I know I promised that this site would be fully functional by january, and it looks as I will be able to keep that promise. On the downside, it will be mid january until everything is finished. I redid most of the initial scripts that handle these pages and have decided to add an administration script to that managing this site is easier afterwards. I have finished the submissions script (the version that was online before had a bug and several security holes), the entries and candidates scripts, and am working on the voting and admin scripts. The last script will be the archive. Thank you all for your submissions - they are really worthy of this site's spirit. 15th december 1999 a.d. - khaine The bad news is that the site was almost unreachable all day - Strato, my domain hoster, seems to be having massive problems once again. Good news is that I found some time to continue work on the site. I made almost all the necessary HTML files today, so you should not find any dead links anymore. It is unlikely though that it will be finished too soon, as the main work, the scripts that will handle submissions and voting are not even started yet. 14th december 1999 a.d. - khaine The Spell of the month site has finished concept phase and is entering creation phase. Today, I made all the main graphics for the interface and two variations of the Award itself, which can be used with a bright background. In addition, I wrote the HTML code for the interface and for the Welcome page. Reactions are, so far, very positive. That makes me hope that this will be a success. Counter started on the 14th January 2000, 12pm |
